A. Mendía is a professor of the Department of Chemistry at the University of Burgos, Spain, since 1996. She carried out his doctoral studies in the Department of Chemistry of the University of La Rioja, Spain, receiving her Ph.D. in Chemistry in 1994. Work toward this doctoral degree, based in the improvement in the synthesis and characterization of new gold, thallium and silver organometallic compounds, were directed by Prof. A. Laguna, from the University of Zaragoza, Spain. In 1999 she was at the University of Southampton (UK), as invited research, working in molybdenum, chromium and tungsten organometallic compounds directed by Prof. G. Reid. In 2003 she was at the University Autónoma of Barcelona, Spain, working in platinum(II) compounds with “Pt2S2” core directed by Prof. P. García-Duarte. At the University of Burgos she is working in palladium and platinum thionate derivatives that present antitumoral in vitro activity in different cancer cell lines as it is referenced in the last publications and in the patent. She collaborates with Prof. M. Laguna (CSIC-UnIversity of Zaragoza, Spain), Prof. F. Morh (University of Wuppertal, Germany) and Prof. J.M. García (University of Burgos, Spain).

From the educational point of view has always taught various subjects related to chemistry at different levels of learning: Bachelor, Master and Doctorate. In most cases these subjects are directly related to Inorganic Chemistry: Experimental Inorganic Chemistry, Advanced Inorganic Chemistry, Structural Characterization of Inorganic Compounds, Mass Spectrometry of Inorganic Compounds and so on. She has participated and directed different Innovation Educational Projects and participated in a lot of meetings, seminars and conferences on the subject. From 2008 to now she is responsible for the mobility of Erasmus students with the University of Wuppertal in Germany.

From 2004-2008 she was Academic Secretary of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Burgos and from 2008-2012 was Vice-Chancellor of Quality and Accreditation of the University of Burgos. These management positions have led to the involvement in numerous University Committees that have allowed a high degree of knowledge about the University System in Spain and specifically in regard to the quality of their studies and the needs and expectations of students.
